Show off your moves in the Aga Khan Park with free skateboarding lessons led by the Chill Foundation! Our Pop-up Skate Park is open to all ages and skill levels — no experience required. Skateboards and helmets provided.

The Chill Foundation inspires youth to overcome challenges through board sports. Founded by Jake and Donna Carpenter of Burton Snowboard, Chill has served more than 20,000 young people since the program began, working with approximately 1,400 youth annually. We work with social service agencies, mental health agencies, foster care programs, juvenile justice programs, and schools in local communities to select youth participants. Everything is provided to the youth at no cost. We focus on the resiliency of our participants to help them reach their full potential and see that there is a path out of their current circumstances. Their current situation doesn't have to define them or determine their path in life; Chill helps them to realize alternatives beyond the struggles they are dealing with. Since inception, Chill has grown to 13 cities across North America, and several international affiliate programs in Italy, Austria, Australia, Japan, and the Czech Republic. We run programs at 13 sites: Boston, Burlington, Chicago, Denver, D.C./Baltimore, Salt Lake City, New York City, Los Angeles, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, and Toronto. The Chill program embodies the latest Positive Youth Development (PYD) best practices to ensure participating youth build resiliency through targeted lessons and challenging physical activities.

Jessica Fulford-Dobson is a freelance, London-based portrait photographer who began her career in the year 2000. Her photographs have since been published in newspapers and magazines worldwide, including the Telegraph Magazine and British Vogue, as well as being exhibited in New York, London, and Prague. In November 2014, out of over 4,000 submissions, Jessica’s portrait of “Skate Girl” won second prize at The National Portrait Gallery’s Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize Award, where it was exhibited for the first time. In April 2015, Jessica had her first solo exhibition at the Saatchi Gallery, London.

Skateistan is an award-winning international non-profit organization empowering youth and children through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia, and South Africa. Through their innovative programs, Outreach, Skate and Create, Back-to-School, and Youth Leadership, Skateistan aims to give youth the opportunity to become leaders for a better world.
