Aga Khan Museum Annual Lecture

2019 AGA KHAN MUSEUM ANNUAL LECTURE
Deborah Ahenkorah

On Sunday, Nov. 24, hear from a fierce visionary who is changing the literary landscape of Africa in our 5th Annual Lecture. Growing up in Ghana, Deborah Ahenkorah dreamed of snowy American towns and not Ghanaian ones — simply because there were no children’s books from Africa.

Now she is working to make sure children across the continent have books that reflect their rich and diverse cultures. To that end, she co-founded the groundbreaking literary non-profit Golden Baobab that offers the world’s only prize celebrating African writers and illustrators, and connects them with publishers worldwide.

In October, this important work earned her the 2019 Global Pluralism Award. Join us for an inspiring discussion with Deborah Ahenkora about representation, literacy, and the power of books to change minds — along with the world.

See our The Power of Literature to Change Minds webpage for details and tickets.
