Raag-Mala Toronto launches its 2019 season at the Aga Khan Museum with the acclaimed Indian classical vocalist Ashwini Bhide Deshpande. Known for her stirring voice, technical excellence, and entrancing performances, Deshpande sings rare and complex raags.

Raags are melodic improvisations based on musical scales with no traditional Western equivalent. They serve as the framework for Indian classical musicians to create a variety of melodies depicting different sentiments and moods.

Join us as Deshpande bravely explores the unknown while calling upon her deep musical lineage: the famed Jaipur Atrauli gayaki (singing style). This performance is part of our 2018/19 season, The Other Side of Fear, featuring acclaimed artists who have transcended fear through music, dance, and spoken word.

A limited number of $10 tickets for full time students with valid ID are available for purchase through Raag-Mala Toronto. For more information, please email raagmalatoronto@gmail.com or call Manoshi Chatterjee at 416.276.5616.
