Fresh off the success of his Netflix special, The Vagabond, Mo Amer will perform all-new material at the Museum! Discover why Rolling Stone named him one of the “10 Comedians You Need to Know,” and why legendary comedian Dave Chappelle calls him “hilarious, thought-provoking, and inspiring.”
Opening the evening is guest artist Brandon Ash Mohammed, a local comic who was named one of Now Magazine’s Breakthrough Stage Artists of 2018. Following his set, is a music and comedy performance from New York-based DJ and comedian Cipha Sounds.
This show is part of our Comedy from The Other Side of Fear series, which celebrates the courage needed to tell our truths and explores how we conquer fear through storytelling and laughter. These comedic takes on challenging issues encourage us to find their lighter side, expanding our perspective.
The series is jointly programmed with podcaster and artist Aliya Pabani, and stems from our 2018/19 Performing Arts season, The Other Side of Fear, featuring acclaimed artists who have transcended fear through music, dance, and spoken word.

Bio:
Mo Amer is an Arab-American stand-up comic and writer of Palestinian descent, known for his work with the comedy troupe “Allah Made Me Funny.” Amer debuted his first standup special, The Vagabond, on Netflix in 2018. He is the first and only Arab-American refugee comic to perform for U.S. and coalition troops overseas. His sold-out shows include performances at the Royal Albert Hall (London), Nelson Mandela Theatre (Johannesburg), and Shrine Auditorium (Los Angeles), and he’s also performed over 600 shows with his mentor Dave Chappelle. Amer’s television credits include Comedy Central’s @midnight, HBO’s Crashing, and CBS’s Late Night with Stephen Colbert. Born in Kuwait, Amer fled to the United States as a refugee in 1990. He currently splits his time between New York City and his hometown of Houston, Texas.
