Exploring Fatimid Motifs: Drawing, Printmaking, and Mixed Media

Popular Instructor Kelley Aitken returns to the Museum to lead this introduction to the artistic methods of mixed media.

With The World of the Fatimids as your starting point, learn to create drawings, develop motifs, and experiment with a variety of media and techniques, from stamping and off-set drawing, with such mediums as chalk pastel, acrylic inks, and more. In just four weeks, develop a series of smaller works and a large frame-ready work on paper!

Bios:
Kelley Aitken is an author and artist who has exhibited in Canada and Ecuador. Her work can be found in many private collections and is also represented in the collection of the Canada Council Art Bank. Aitken has taught art for more than 25 years, offering private classes and workshops, and running art programs for community-based agencies in Calgary and Toronto. She co-leads an annual plein air workshop in France, and teaches drawing, mixed media, and watercolour at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
