Experience multimedia art, a virtual reality experience, live music, and sacred ceremonies from around the world in intimate settings. Sama, Arabic for listening, invites you to take in the many sides of Toronto: sleepless city, site for sacred discovery, and scene of unexpected encounters. You’ll find 13 different performance sites across the Museum, the Park, and the Ismaili Centre, Toronto, each offering art and performance that will ignite your senses.

 

Highlights include:

 

  • Toronto Council Fire Teepee – Indigenous teachings around the teepee and a sacred all-night fire for offerings
  • Spiritual Sanctuary Yurt – sacred spiritual music from the many corners of the world
  • Nocturnal City Yurt –music, stories, and comedy born of the city’s endless energy
  • Unusual Encounters Yurt – new and unexpected sound arise when musical traditions come together 
  • This is My Music Live CIUT 89.5 Broadcast – a live 12-hour broadcast of the city's cultural leaders sharing the music that inspires them (see broadcast schedule below)
  • Galleries – enjoy free admission to our Museum Collection and $10 admission to the groundbreaking exhibitions Caravans of Gold and Ekow Nimako's Building Black: Civilizations (until midnight only)
  • *Unavailable Shuttle Service­ – Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, shuttle service is no longer available, but it's still easy to get to the Museum by bus from three TTC subway stations:
    Eglinton Station:  Take the 34C Eglinton east to Wynford Drive at Garamond Crt.
    Broadview Station: Take the 100A north to Wynford Dr. at Concorde Pl.
    Pape Station: Take the 25A north to Don Mills Rd at Wynford Dr.
