Ottoman Geometric Patterns

Date: Sun, Dec 03, 2017 11:00AM - Sun, Dec 03, 2017 04:00PM
Price: $50, $45 Friends, $40 students and seniors

Let the art of the Museum inspire you in this exploration of geometry in Islamic art. Take your abilities from beginner patterns to an intermediate-level star pattern found in the Topkapi Palace. Then, make your very own masterpiece as you recreate the design on a clay tile — yours to keep at the end of the workshop.

Aneesa Patel is an Ontario Certified Teacher who graduated from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto. While staying at home to raise three children, Aneesa rediscovered her passion for the visual arts, and for Islamic geometric art in particular. In 2014, she taught the Geometric Art Club at Gateway Public School. Since 2015, she has led geometric art workshops at venues including the Aga Khan Museum and TDSB schools. Aneesa is currently building hands-on geometric art workshops that make math-art connections for elementary schools.
