Join us for an evening of Andalusian classical music from Morocco that showcases the country’s rich cultural fabric and history. This intimate ensemble of musicians will perform excerpts from longer pieces called Nouba, which originate in the 9th century and have been passed down orally through the generations.

Founded in 1998 and led by Artistic Director, Khalil Moqadem,  l’orchestre andalou de Montréal aims to promote Andalusian heritage in Canada. The orchestra has performed for the Throne Celebration at the Consulate of Morocco in Montreal, the Festival Sépharade de Montréal, Sepharadic Kehila Centre in Toronto, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Moroccan Cultural Center (Montreal).

Moroccan Cultural Week (Nov. 19–24, 2019) is part of the Museum’s fall season —Africa!— which explores new dimensions of the vast and complex continent with a world-class lineup of art exhibitions, performers, and speakers.
